The Sword as spoken in Matthew 10:34 is a sword that separates sin in people’s lives, and bring Gods love to the dying lost world. One thing for sure is that in order for Jesus to forgive a sin, He must come in contact with a sinner. It is amazing news that any sinner can come to Jesus just as they are, and Jesus can take the sinner who trust in Him, and cleanse the sinner up. Jesus has the power to convert the sinner into a different person giving him/her a new identity, and they can begin a new walk of faith. The Sword of love does not compromise with sin nor does it harbor sin, but rather, it separates sin in the person’s lives, and isolate sin by bringing it into captive, and pronounce judgment by condemning it. Take for instance when Jesus was faced with those people buying, selling, and doing money changes in the temple, and the way Jesus responded in an holy anger must give us a signal of how He treated them that cheaply treated the house of God? In this 21st Century we are also faced with such situations too but in another form, but really the motives are same, and that is money making profits in the holy things, and how I wish Jesus would act towards such people? Can we pause for a moment, and think of the prize paid for our salvation – it’s free; think of how He justified you innocent in His Fathers Presence is free; gave you eternal life it’s free; wrote your name down in Lambs Book of Life, it’s free; the precious blood that cleansed you from all your sins, it’s free; all of that is free, free and free! Why making money out of holy things??
The lives of this several people in their biography portrays a true servant’s heart. A heart truly sanctified wholly for the Masters use. They forsake worldly prestige, fame, money, good lives, even from the kind of family background they came from just to live out their lives to shine out the life, and love of Christ to the dying world. Their lives were as the Holy Scriptures says in Matthew 10:35, “For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” (NIV). That is what the Sword did to Bernadette Soubirous, Mother Teresa, and Francis of Assisi who did not see their lives as important compare to the importance of sharing the love of Christ across the globe! God’s ways are not our ways, and God’s purpose are not like ours, how He chooses people into His Divine service is something we need to carefully come to a clear understanding. Take for instance we can learn from Mother Teresa’s story, that Jesus is not respecter of denominations, and creeds. He chooses those who are meek, and willing to serve. Mother Theresa was a blessing for many. We should take her example and do good without expecting a return. She is stated to have said that earthly rewards were important only if they helped her help the world’s needy. When asked why she did what she did, and lived with the sick and dying, Mother Tersa said, “Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost. I am doing what Jesus has commanded all His children to do.” May God truly help us to do what Jesus Christ commanded us to do! To live, and walk in His (Jesus) Words just like what Apostle Paul said in Philippians 1:21, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (NIV). Are we living for Christ? Or are we living for ourselves?
